A flop
My ultimate goal with this is to create my own patterns. After a few beats, I thought I was ready. To start, I took measurements of the pattern I have, making adjustments to form shapes that I had envisioned. I have been pinning bears on Pinterest that interest me in different ways so I used those images to form ideas for the length and width of the different body parts. I made the head with less of a pronounced muzzle. The belly rounder. The arms and legs a little straighter. Just to try. I began to sew with the same yellow fabric. It was a disaster from the start. My material slipped slightly, and the pattern pieces were cut short. I had to trace them out again. Then the bear just looked terrible. Not cute at all. I did begin to piece it together. I put a neck joint and attached it to the body. The neck was too long and the head too fat. I continued on anyways. I put on the legs. Ugh. It was too awful to bear. Into the trash it went. I don’t even feel bad about it. I’m frustrated, yes, but I figure I need more time creating from someone else’s pattern to better understand the shapes and logistics of making a pattern that will actually work. I don’t know how artists do it! I will try again later.
