To do
This weekend, I am going camping with my dear friend. It’s something that we both love to do and have been planning trips for the past few years. We always bring a puzzle and a craft. This time, I am bringing a bear that I have sewn but not yet put together. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve made one, so I’m eager to create again.
At school, the art department sponsored a faculty art show. I put in three critters - two bears and a rabbit. I got some compliments on the work, but my favorite response was that it reminded them of Steiff with an already loved quality to them. We talked about the Velveteen Rabbit and the skin horse. It's one of my favorite books, and it's definitely a feeling that guides what I am trying to accomplish with these sewn creatures.
I received the new fabric from Hong Kong to make a new kind of bear. I found the pattern for free on the internet. The directions are not as detailed so I hope I can figure it out. This will be a project for when I come back.
